El-P
is one of the most obstinate pioneers of underground hip hop, combining a old-school aesthetic with a progressive rock musician's inclination to push boundaries. When he recorded the genre defining album «Funcrusher Plus» with his ex-group Company Flow for Rawkus records in 1997, he helped the label to become the epitome of independent rap. In 2001 El-P started his own label Def Jux and continues to work successfully as a solo artist.
