is Anna-Lynne Williams from Seattle. She began her musical career in the late 90's with Matt Brown in the indie-band Trespassers William. Later, both worked also on different side-projects. Lotte Kestner is William's solo project she started in 2008. It's dreampop-indie-shoegaze presented with a very captive voice. Her album «Stolen» is a unique collection of cover-songs ranging from New Order, Bon Iver, Vic Chesnutt to Kent.
You know, I love the intimate ones. David Bazan at a house show in Kirkland. Or Damien Jurado playing alone in a record store. That's my favorite stuff.
your boozed up anthem
Aphrodite's Child - The End Of The World
Right now it's «The End Of The World» by Aphrodite's Child. I get to break out a hybrid of ballet and Woodstock hippie moves.
a song guaranteed to make you feel depressed
The Cure - Disintegration
Anything off of «Disintegration» by The Cure. It's funny how that album used to comfort me when I was young, now I think it would be too much to take.
record you were looking for the longest
Under Byen - Kyst
I'm still looking for «Kyst» by Under Byen. It's expensive shipping that double vinyl from Denmark...
a record you fell in love to
Kings Of Convenience - Riot On An Empty Street
first record you remember
«Xanadu»
Honestly? The «Xanadu»-soundtrack. My big sister had it on vinyl. I knew all the songs and even came up with some choreography.
first video clip you remember?
Eurythmics - Sweet Dreams
Annie Lennox is cool.
the song to be played at your funeral
Idaho - To Be The One
I wouldn't want anything with words. Something classical and uplifting. I don't think I've found it yet. But if it were to be a pop song, I'd be redundant and say «To Be The One» by Idaho. Go out with the words: «What you're talking about is pure...»
a song that evokes the greatest summer of your life
Air - Talkie Walkie
There was a beautiful summer where Trespassers William got to go to Europe twice for some festivals. We don't often get to go over there in the sunny season. While we were in France, i heard «Talkie Walkie» by Air for the first time.
your ultimate heartbreak song
Hayden - Holster
Oh my goodness, «Holster» by Hayden is a really good one. «If he gets any closer I'm gonna put on my holster, have a showdown with him on your street. Or maybe I'll just write to him, and tell him that he'll never win your heart because it belongs to me.» I think that song's only on his live album. I heard him play it in Hollywood. Yes.
your liberation anthem
Björk - Joga
Magical forever.
your party anthem
Right now it's the new Big Boi album.
first record you bought
Madonna - Immaculate Collection
With my own money probably Madonna's «Immaculate Collection». She was my first idol.
a song that reminds your friends of you
Radiohead - Videotape
I always get my friends to sing that one with me at shows. Gives me the chills to hear their voices blend together.
a song you would use as a ring-tone
Interpol - Untitled
I wouldn't. But if I had to maybe the guitar intro from the opening track off of Interpol's «Turn On The Bright Lights».
the perfect anthem for Seattle
Something by Pearl Jam. Eddie has a sweet voice.
a song to seduce you
D'Angelo - Voodoo
Anything off of «Voodoo» by D'Angelo. The videos don't hurt either.
a song you would send over the ocean
Elbow - Switching Off
It already sounds epic, like it's in flight.
your sunday morning song
Cat Stevens - Morning Has Broken
Aww, maybe «Morning Has Broken» by Cat Stevens.
a song you wish you'd written yourself
Idaho - To Be The One
I might as well just tattoo those lyrics all over my body.
